Social Media Post Mix: the 80/20 Rule

Social media has become an incredibly powerful tool for engaging customers, driving traffic, and building trust. At EGA, we often say that social media is a tool to help establish your brand as a subject-matter expert. So, instead of a feed filled with chest-pounding capability posts, we recommend the 80/20 rule. 80% of your posts should provide your followers with value, while 20% can speak to your capabilities.

To make the most out of your social media efforts, it’s essential to create content and campaigns that provide real value to your audience. Here are some tips for creating valuable content on social media:

Identify Your Audience

Before creating any kind of content, you need to know who you’re targeting. Take the time to research who your customers are and what they’re interested in. Determine their age range, interests, location, and more so you can tailor your content to best reach them. This will ensure that your messaging is relevant and meaningful. Dive deeper and flex your marketing muscles by creating a customer persona. At EGA, we regularly reference these profiles for post inspiration.

Focus On Quality Over Quantity

It’s important not to overwhelm audiences with too much content or post too frequently—it may actually backfire! Quality should always come before quantity when it comes to creating valuable social media content. Make sure that each piece of content provides value in some way – this could mean providing helpful information or offering discounts/promotions for customers.

Make It Shareable

When crafting quality posts, it’s important to think about how they can be shared by others. Creating easily shareable content increases its reach exponentially, as people are likely to share posts they find interesting with their own networks. Encourage followers to engage with posts through likes, comments, and shares–this will help spread the word about your brand even further!

Respond To Comments And Messages Quickly

Engaging with followers is a key part of successful social media campaigns—but it’s not enough just to create good content —you need to reply quickly when people comment, message you or ask questions! This helps build trust between customers and brands as well as shows them that you care about their feedback and concerns. Plus, responding promptly also improves customer service which further adds value for everyone involved!

By focusing on providing true value through quality content and engaging conversations with followers, you can create an effective social media presence that will help build brand loyalty and grow your customer base over time.
